Why Families Choose Us

What Makes the Difference

Succession conversations are rarely straightforward. The way they are held matters as much as the plans they produce.

Neutral Ground

As an outside advisor, we have no stake in the outcome. That independence gives every family member a safer space to speak honestly.

Unhurried Pace

We work to your timeline. Succession takes the time it takes, and we do not push a family further or faster than they are ready to go.

Relationships First

The plan serves the family, not the other way round. We keep human relationships at the centre of every operational decision.

Clear Documentation

Every engagement produces written notes and summaries. Nothing important is left to memory or assumption.

Specialist Referrals

Where matters call for regulated legal or financial expertise, we help you identify and bring in the right professionals.

Private by Design

Family business succession is sensitive. All sessions and documents are held in strict confidence — always.

Ready When You Are

Is your family business ready to think about what comes next?

There is no pressure to have a plan before we speak. A short, unhurried conversation is often the right first step. We are here to listen.

Common Questions

Questions Families Ask

What does succession planning actually involve?
At Aldercrest, succession planning covers the operational and relational side of a leadership handover — who does what, when, and how the family communicates about it. We help map responsibilities, prepare incoming leaders and structure family conversations. Matters that require regulated legal or financial expertise are referred to the right specialists.
When is a good time to start thinking about succession?
Earlier than most families expect. The families who navigate transitions well tend to begin before there is any urgency — when there is still time to have the conversations carefully, develop the next generation and make thoughtful operational arrangements. Even a preliminary conversation now can surface useful questions.
Do we need to have family agreement before approaching you?
Not at all. We often work with families who are at different stages of readiness. Our Succession Readiness Conversation is a good starting point — it is designed precisely to help a family begin exploring, rather than to assume they have already decided anything.
How long does the process take?
Each engagement has a defined scope: two to three weeks for the Readiness Conversation, four to six weeks for the Transition Roadmap, and three to six months for the Advisory Companion. The timeline reflects what the work genuinely requires — we do not extend engagements unnecessarily.
What happens with the information we share?
Everything discussed in our sessions is held in strict confidence. We do not share family information externally and treat all documents with care. Confidentiality is a foundation of how we work, not an afterthought.
Do you provide legal or financial advice?
No. Our work covers operational readiness, role planning and family communication. Where a succession plan touches areas that require regulated legal or financial expertise — such as shareholder arrangements or tax structuring — we help you identify and bring in suitably qualified specialists.
How are sessions conducted?
Most sessions are conducted in person in the Klang Valley or via a private video call, depending on the family's preference. We are based in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, and are happy to discuss arrangements that suit you.
